As a user experience designer, 0:13
our users are the most important aspect when creating a design. 0:15
We think through questions like what pain points do our users have? 0:20
How can we solve them? 0:24
But it can be difficult to picture who our users or target audience are. 0:26
It's a large group of people. 0:31
How do you make decisions for everyone? 0:33
To make designing for our users easier, we create personas. 0:36
A persona is a representation of the target audience narrowed down 0:40
into a single person. 0:45
Personas are then used to make design decisions to make sure the end 0:47
product meets their needs and solves their pain points. 0:51
Depending on the scope of your project and the diversity of your users, 0:55
you may only need one persona to represent them all, or you may need a few. 1:00
For example, a website like Sunflower Elementary MOMS will probably have 1:05
a narrow target audience, and therefore may only have a single persona. 1:10
But a large website like Amazon caters to a wide range of people. 1:16
They probably have to keep a few personas in mind when designing. 1:21
