Navbar Creation

This video covers adding a navbar for user authentication in a Rails application using Devise, implementing sign-in, sign-up, and sign-out links, and conditionally displaying authentication links based on the user's login status.

Now, we might just create a little navbar here that says we can sign out, sign in, 0:00
or sign up, or login. 0:03
So let's go ahead and do that. 0:04
So I'm going to go to the VS Code, and inside here, we're going to create a new 0:05
file inside of layouts and we're just going to say _navbar.html.env. 0:10
And then inside here, we're gonna create some links that is gonna allow 0:15
us to actually log in, sign up, or log out on this on the navbar, right? 0:19
So first, to actually render this password, we're gonna go to 0:23
application.html.env, and then above this we're gonna say render partial. 0:27
We're gonna say navbar. 0:32
And then now, if we actually add some content inside the navbar, 0:34
we can say this is navbar and just make sure to add layouts/navbar before navbar. 0:37
So layouts/navbar, because we actually need to direct it to the right place. 0:41
So do layouts/navbar. 0:46
Then if we refresh, as you can see, it says this is the navbar. 0:47
So now we just need to add some links. 0:50
So the first thing we're gonna say is I need to sign out, right? 0:51
So we're gonna do a link_to, we're gonna say sign out. 0:55
And then if we go to the Rails routes, we can find the root, but I know the route. 0:59
So we're gonna say destroy_user_session_path. 1:03
Then after that, we're gonna say data: {turbo_method: :delete} and 1:08

So now, if we go to the actual homepage and we sign out, 1:16

The sign up link is still showing, so 1:22
