The answer should look like this

HTML

 index.html

<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>
  <body>

    <h1>Welcome to My Web Page!</h1>

  </body>
</html>

and the CSS should be

h1 {
   color:purple;
}

Looks like a typo - you misspelled 'purple':

<!doctype html>
<html>
  <head>
    <link href="styles.css" rel="stylesheet">
  </head>
  <body>

    <h1 style="color:purple">Welcome to My Web Page!</h1>

  </body>
</html>

Edit to add: while the solution I have posted passes the challenge, it is better practice to keep CSS in separate file as in Andrew's solution.

thnks dude
