530 Pointsdo i need a mac to do the iOS development track?
I'm taking iOS development track. I'm on the beginning stages, at the "anatomy of a c program". i only have windows 8 on my pc. is a mac required or is there a way around it? thanks

Courses Plus Student 13,560 Pointsyes and no. Yes you need the mac OS which is on a mac to get xCode from the mac app store but you can make a hackintosh where you put the mac OS on your other computer. although it's not a great idea and is quite short term, it does work. but as said above mac are the best of the best for developing and you'll be seen a little more professionally with a linux based machine and macs are simply really freakin awesome! anyways if you want to try a hackintosh you can google it (although not recommended), you can also simply get a cheap mac (without a monitor) for like 400$ used at a local computer store or you can buy a luxurious new mac for like 1,100$ which should last you a long time.

20,491 PointsSorry to bring bad news, but as far as I know, you will need a Mac to be able to develop for iOS. This is because Xcode, the IDE for iOS, is only available on Macs.
