Python Python Basics (2015) Logic in Python Try and Except

Let's make sure we're always working with floats. Convert your arguments to floats....

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here...

def add(x, y):
try:
   a = float(x)
   b = float(y)
except ValueError:
  return None
else:
  return a + b

   b = float(y)
except ValueError:
  return None
else:
  return a + b

a = add(2,4) print (a)

here is what I have, make sure you indent. I did not have any problems.

You need to indent everything after the def add(x,y):

Otherwise you have an empty function and some random code floating in your workflow.

def add(x, y):
  try:
    a = float(x)
    b = float(y)
  except ValueError:
    return None
  else:
    return a + b
