a variable named data. Assign it an empty JavaScript object. Hint: an object in JavaScript is created with a pair of braces like this: { }
$(document).ready(function() {
var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
});
var data={}

57,712 PointsYou're correct - just move it inside the function:
$(document).ready(function() {
var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
var data = {};
});
And add the semi-colon.

7,102 PointsThe location of var data is causing the error.
$(document).ready(function() {
var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
var data = {}; <!-- this is where you need to place var data -->
});

4,419 Pointsthe above code did not work for me but once I take out the semicolon, now it works:
$(document).ready(function() {
var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
var data = {}
});
