absolute positing vs float

Is absolute positioning better to use as you have far more control than float?

You are correct, but you also have additional responsibility for accounting for the exact sizes and positions of both the item you are moving and other nearby elements. These techniques are usually used to fill different needs.

But the "flexbox" and "grid" methods give you more control and more flexibility. "Flexbox" in particular is often considered an effective replacement for floats.
