Access for less secure apps has been turned on

Google flagged this as a less secure app.

Is there any online information that can help understand and mitigate risk and why google thinks it is unsecure?

Hi, I ran into the same problem. Google's learn more: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6010255?hl=en

I think if your email has important information it may be best to just set up a different gmail account instead.
