After I successfully complete task two, I try to complete task three ... but it is saying " oops! task 2 is not passing"

Hello!

I am completing task 2 under creating nav and unordered lists. <ul> <li>Portfolio</li> <li>About</li> <li>Contact</li>

--It says it is correct. Then I move on the the next step, which is adding links to those list items as follows. However when I click "check work" it tells me that "oops! task two is no longer passing" and I only have the option of rechecking work, or re doing task two. ---

</ul> <li><a href="index.html"Portfolio></a></li> <li><a href="about.html"About></a></li> <li><a href="contact.html"Contact></a></li> <ul>

I have rechecked work, as well as redone task two and task three, but I am still getting the same error.

index.html
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
    <title>Nick Pettit</title>
  </head>
  <body>
    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html"Portfolio></a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html"About></a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html"Contact></a></li>

        </ul>
      </nav>

    </header>
    <section></section>
    <footer>
      <p>&copy; 2013 Nick Pettit.</p>
    </footer>
  </body>
</html>

Hey there - your closing brackets are in the wrong place. Should look like this:

<li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
<li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
<li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>

Hey Julia,

It's actually a small syntax error.

 <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
 </ul>

you're placing the closing > after the name of each of your links.
