After your newly created returnValue function, create a new variable named echo. Set the value of echo to be the results from calling the returnValue function. When you call the returnValue function, make sure to pass in any string you'd like for the parameter.

The function will accept the string you pass to it and return it back (using the return statement). Then your echo variable will be set with what is returned, the results.

script.js
function returnValue(drink) {
  var echo = returnValue();
  return "drink";
}

When they say to create a variable that calls the function they mean outside the function. If you tried calling that inside the function the browser wouldn't be able to find that function and you would receive an error. The proper way to do the challenge would be like this.

   function returnValue(e) {
         return e;
    }
   var echo = returnValue('hello')

The function you make to pass task 1 should not be modified for task 2.

You will create the new variable after the function, but you will use the function in assigning it a value.
