I am stuck on this code challenge. I need to add the .main.temp, but every way I have tried to add it is not right? Can someone help me determine whee this should be?
$(document).ready(function() {
var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
var data = {
q : "Portland,OR",
units : "metric"
};
function showWeather (weatherReport) {
$("#temperature").text();
;
};
});
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>What's the Weather Like?</title>
<script src="jquery.js"></script>
<script src="weather.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="main">
<h1>Current temperature: <span id="temperature"></span>°</h1>
</div>
</body>
</html>

38,442 PointsIf you don't pass a parameter into jQuery's .text() method, jQuery will return the current text in the selected element rather than replace the contents currently there. In this case you function is retrieving the value °, and doing nothing with it, considering nothing is returned. You need to retrieve the data your parameter will have, then access the properties that are available.
$(document).ready(function() {
var weatherAPI = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather';
var data = {
q : "Portland,OR",
units : "metric"
};
function showWeather(weatherReport){
$("#temperature").text(weatherReport.main.temp);
}
});
