Alright, let's finish making our menu. Combine the sundaes list into a new variable named display_menu, where each item

available="banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white" sundaes=available.split(';') menu=", ".join("sundaes")

why is this not providing answer to the question

banana.py 
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes=available.split(';')  
menu=", ".join("sundaes")

You joined ", " with the string "sundaes" itself, not the variable.

When you want to refer to variables, don't use double/single quotes.

Try getting rid of the double quotes around sundaes.

Try this:

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(';')  
menu = ", ".join(sundaes)
