An advise for beginners like me please.

Hi! I recently joined tree house and currently taking the PHP track.. I was hoping to get a job as a web developer. I somehow know HTML, CSS and PHP because of watching a lot of youtube tutorials before I discovered tree house (though I think it didn't give me the solid foundation). My question is, should I take the Front-end Web developer track? or just finish the PHP development track first?

It depends on what you want to do. You don't have to be a frontend developer. If all you want to do is PHP and you feel comfortable, I'd say go for it. If you feel you might need some work/understanding of some frontend things like styling div's, HTML/JavaScript then start with the frontend track, or you can do both, I think in the end if you start with the frontend track at some point you need to learn a backend language, or at least a basic understanding of one. the frontend track will give you a very solid foundation with HTML, CSS and JS. Theses are things that I think every developer should have a basic understanding of.

So my advise to you is:

  1. Think about what you want to do. write down things you want to build.
  2. See what tracks on Treehouse fit best with what you want to do. If you have trouble with this ask in the forum.
  3. Go for it!!

Its about what you want to learn and build.

I would take the Front-end track firstly because there is really lots of useful stuff for beginners. And if you say you don't have a solid foundation I think it won't harm to start with some basics.

I would also suggest starting off with the Front End track. I am currently doing that one and I believe it will provide a solid introduction to what it is like to code before moving onto languages that are harder to conceptualize. Hope that helps!
