Android Studio - ADB not responding etc

I'm working on the stormy project track. I started the code with dependency and code to get the weather info synchonously and then everything went awry. Started displaying errors regarding "MdmCutbackHndler,Could not open" and now "ADB not responding". I've seen several threads suggesting killing the adb and updating the SDK. What happened here?
