Android Studio is stuck on the "Gradle Build" screen...keeps saying "scanning files to index

Have you tried doing a Clean/Rebuild? (Under the Build menu) Have you tried File -> Invalidate Cache and Restart? What is your project's directory? (True story: Once I accidentally opened a new project on C:\ and it dutifully set off to index the entire hard drive.)
