appending slugs and ids ot the single.php template

I see the video says you cannot appen slugs and ids to the single.php template the way you can to a page.php template. Why is that?

Because thats how wordpress handles the files. Take a look on the wordpress hierarchy: http://wphierarchy.com

There you can see that page.php also allows page-$slug.php and page-$id.php. For single pages you're just able to make files with single-$posttype.php if you have custom post types in use.

You can't append slug and IDs to the single.php template in the same way you can the page.php template.
