aww man, this is so difficult. I'm not sure I even understand the Challenge correctly.

I'm I even on the right track?

squared.py 
# EXAMPLES
# squared(5) would return 25
# squared("2") would return 4
# squared("tim") would return "timtimtim"

def squared(num):
    try:
        num = int()
        return(num * num)
    except ValueError:
        return(num)

You have to give the int() a input, for example num = int(num)

If the argument can not be converted, the code should return the argument multiplied by its length. for that, use the len()-function
