Best desktop setup for web design and developements

Hey Folks, I Need your suggestions on my new desktop upgrade .currently i'm using windows 8 but it is dying when i try to open our development softwares such as Ps,Dm,Ai etc.. So i want to shift all my devices (except my nexus 4 ;) ) immediately to MAC OS which is fast and smooth to run such applications (i guess). So i need all of your views and opinion on MAC for Web design ,best Mac at budget price , if mac mini what are the improvements that we can made to increase the performance like ram upgrade etc.. Thanks,Gopi ps: this new topic input text field is not allowing me to seperate the paragraphs.so dear treehouse please note this :)

Dude i'm pretty sure you could get a very good high performance PC for half the price of a MAC...

The new Alienware is pretty cheap and majorly awesome http://www.alienware.com/Landings/desktops.aspx $699

Or if you wanted, you could dual boot linux. It is free, and means you won't have to break the bank on a mac. Email me if you want any further information, I'm happy to help!

You don't need a MAC. I run Windows 8.1 on PC, Dreameaver, Photoshop, Illustrator....everything you could think of.

What you need is a system with at least 8GB of RAM, a 6 core processor and a 2GB GDDR5 Graphics card...all of that can be bought brand new for around £500. Possibly a power supply upgrade, perhaps another £100. Cheaper then a MAC and you could even get a second screen for another £200...maximum cost, £800.

Thanks Matthew.currently i'm using a HP Pavilion G6 laptop connected to 24 inch dell monitor. this laptop has APU Quad Core A8/ DDR3 RAM 4GB/ 500GB/ Win8/ AMD Radeon HD 2.5GB DDR3 Graphic card.will it make a big difference if i upgrade the RAM to 8GB ?

Yes, 8GB of RAM will help. Just sat here with Skype, Dreamweaver, Chrome with 2 tabs and developer window, word, outlook, music playing and xampp running on Windows 8.1...I'm using 4.2GB of my 16GB of RAM.

Getting 8GB will dramatically improve performance if you're wanting to run Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time as well.

To be honest though, I'd invest in a desktop system. Your GPU isn't too bad but it's going to be struggling. The fact you're using an APU means you'll be using more RAM then normal as the APU relies heavily on large amounts of RAM for processing.

Yo! Thanks Matthew. very useful info .So you mean to say that i need to upgrade RAM to 8GB. will that be enough to get smooth work performance ? because if my laptop is at the same state that you mentioned above ..it crashes for some time.

Yes. i do agree with you on desktop system. but the problem with that is ,again i need to purchase a portable laptop to manage client meetings at their location which will cost additional $500 at least and the best desktop conf that you mentioned in your first message will cost $1200 .. means total $1700 . so for that same i can get a decent Mac pro 15' which i would use as a desktop system by connecting to my 24 inch dell monitor and as laptop for meet ups, client interactions etc .. what would say ?

I'd say that upgrading to 8GB now is a good move. And then get a desktop as well. You've already got the laptop so you don't need to get another. You're on Windows 8 so take advantage of SkyDrive and put all the files you want on both machines in there.
