Blank screen appears when setting up Wordpress

Hi

I have ran through the steps as instructed in the video but when I come to the part where you click the install link, my browser opens up to a blank screen and that is all I see.

I have looked at other questions that people have asked but none of these solutions seem to help. I am running windows 10, in case anybody needs to know.

Thanks

I had to stop windows from contacting IIS through the port being used.

I had help from Matthew Smart.

Apologies, I presumed that this comment would appear under the video in question.

The video in question is:

https://teamtreehouse.com/library/how-to-install-wordpress-on-your-computer/how-to-install-wordpress-on-your-computer/installing-wordpress-with-desktopserver

There is a point in the video where you are asked to click the install.php link that should bring up the Wordpress installation fields during the installation of desktop server, but all I get is a blank screen.

I wouldn't know this as ive never used Desktop server before, I use mamp/xamp or wamp. Do you have any experience at all with coding?

not a whole lot to be honest, not on the server site of things. I was just using DS as this is what the video was explaining.

Would you recommend running another server for running wordpress locally?

I would recommend Mamp for mac users and Wamp for windows users. Very simple to install both.

mamp = https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress_Locally_on_Your_Mac_With_MAMP wamp = http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-install-wordpress-on-your-windows-computer-using-wamp/

Two guides, but there are a lot more out there.

Once these are set up, it is as simple as putting the wordpress folder into mamp/htdocs/ folder. Then going to localhost in your browser or localhost:8888 it will display the correct page.

Using mamp pro you make host names for each folder, so instead of localhost:8888 it might be mywebsite/

Thanks

I have downloaded and installed WAMP and it installed without any issues.

The icon sits in my taskbar as orange and when i click it to go to the myPHP section as the tutorials instructs the screen appears blank.

Not sure what is going on.
