Button displays all pictures, not specified tagged pictures

My code displays photos of every animal, (including birds?) and won't switch pictures when changing different buttons. I have no idea why this is happening. Help!

In your flickrOptions object, you're passing a string "animal" instead of the variable animal

var flickrOptions = {
  tags: "animal",
  format: "json"
};

It should be:

var flickrOptions = {
  tags: animal,  //change this line
  format: "json"
};
