Can anyone help with the following challenge? Not sure what I’m doing wrong. The error I received is

AssertionError: Regex didn't match: '(\\{self.make\\})\\s(\\{self.model\\})' not found in 'class DreamCar:
 def __init__(self, make, model):
 self.make = make
 self.model = model
 # insert your code here
 def __str__ (self):
 return "My dream car is a { }{}".format(self.make, self.model)' :
You'll need to use `self` when using the attributes make and model.

Challenge: Add a str method to the DreamCar class. In the method, return a string that states the dream car's make and model. The string should look like this: 'My dream car is a Ford Mustang.'

My code:

dream_car.py
class DreamCar:
    def __init__(self, make, model):
        self.make = make
        self.model = model
    # insert your code here
    def __str__ (self):
        return "My dream car is a {}{}".format(self.make, self.model)

You are very close! An f-string is not required. Your original code has two errors:

  • missing period at end of sentence
  • missing space between format fields

Post back if you need more help. Good luck!!!

This has been happening to a lot of people, You have it right!! It's just the code interrupter thats being weird. I had the same problem. Instead you have to use an 'f-string'.

    def __str__(self):
        return f"My dream car is a {self.make} {self.model}."

Thanks so much, Michael :)

not working

  def__str__(self):
        return "My dream car is a {} {}.".format(self.make, self.model)

I suck at this challenge!

A space is needed after def. Notice how the syntax highlighting has __str__ the same color as def?
