When I use print(dict): it gives expected result But return doesn't work WHY??
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.
def word_count(string):
dict = {}
keys = (string.lower()).split(' ')
for word in keys:
dict.update({word : keys.count(word)})
return dict

Treehouse TeacherHi there! You're doing terrific! The key here is that the challenge asks you to split on all whitespace. Currently, you are only splitting on spaces. My guess is that you haven't tried any test data that contains other whitespaces such as tabs or new line characters.
So where you have:
# this splits on only spaces
.split(' ')
You should have:
# this splits on ALL whitespace
.split()
When I correct this tiny thing, your code passes! Hope this helps!
