can someone tell me where I'm having a mistake

don't know where is an error.

banana.py
available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(";")
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(",".join(available))
display_menu = ", ".join(sundaes)
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(", ".join(display_menu))

Try this

menu = 'Our available flavors are: {}'.format(', '.join(sundaes))

You should pass sundaes into your join method.

I don't understand why you have two strokes with menu variable, but I see that you split string to the list and save it in "sudaes", but on next stroke you try to join "available" that is the string.

available = "banana split;hot fudge;cherry;malted;black and white"
sundaes = available.split(";")
menu = "Our available flavors are: {}.".format(", ".join(sundaes))
