Python Python Collections (Retired) Lists Redux Manipulating Lists

Can you explain why this program is not passing?

the_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

Your code goes below here

num = the_list.pop(3) the_list.insert(0,num) while True: try: del the_list[0] except: break

lists.py
the_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

# Your code goes below here
num = the_list.pop(3)
the_list.insert(0,num)
while True:
    try:
        del the_list[0]
    except:
        break

Your while loop will delete every single item of the list and when the loop is done. There will be an empty list.

Try to run this little piece of code:

the_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

while True:
    try:
        print("Say bye to {} ",format(the_list[0]))
        del the_list[0]
    except:
        break

print("This is your list after the loop {}".format(the_list))

Hi Markus,

look at my code suggestion:

the_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

num = the_list.pop(3)
the_list.insert(0, num)

# no need for a while loop
# just remove the items by using the value as remove method argument

the_list.remove("a")
the_list.remove(False)
the_list.remove([1, 2, 3])

Makes sense?

Grigorij

I think I misunderstood the question. Thanks
