Can you use Sketch app instead to complete the Adobe Illustrator course?

Sketch for Mac - http://www.bohemiancoding.com/sketch/. Adobe Illustrator/CS is just too damned expensive! So can I use a similar vector based tool to complete the Illustrator basics course here on Treehouse or am I likely to hit some AI only features?

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Was in a bit of a rush when I typed it! Basically do I actually need Adobe Illustrator to complete the Illustrator course on Treehouse if I simply want to learn about vector drawing? Sketch is a design app for Mac which allows vector drawing. Thanks.

Jon W - Mat Helme is the teacher who made the course so I tagged him. I have neither Sketch nor Illustrator so I haven't tried the course and thus wouldn't be of much help.

Hey Jon W ,

Sketch is a great application for creating vector illustrations on the Mac. Unfortunately we don't have a course for Sketch at the time being however it's a great alternative to Illustrator at a more affordable price.

Hey Mat, thanks for the reply but doesn't really answer my question. I wasn't requesting a Sketch course and just wanted to know if I can complete the Illustrator course on Treehouse using Sketch instead of Adobe Illustrator. Nevermind though, I think I'll just go ahead and try it LOL!

Hey Jon W ,

Sketch & Adobe Illustrator are two separate apps. The Sketch App will not work with the Adobe Illustrator Foundations Course, you will need use Adobe Illustrator to complete it.
