cannot log in sftp

i can log into ftp, but not sftp. i get an error that reads: Illegal sftp packet len: 173303913

Check your ftp settings on your server's interface. Most of the time there's an option to allow sftp/sshell access for the ftp user.

Depending on your FTP program, you should have the option of choosing the type of connection you want to connect with i.e FTP, SFTP, SHELL etc. Some programs only offer it in their paid version. Also you want to check your server to make sure you have SFTP access or create one.
