Can't connect style.css to html file in github

This is what i wrote in html file <link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css">

I am not sure if the style.css is in the same file as the html file, i've tried different paths.

They are in the same repository, as style.css and README.md.

Thank you for answering. I've tried and didn't work. The css is corresponding to the html on codepen just fine. Somehow i just couldn't connect them on github.
