The above are the three answers required but the questions will change in order so a quick explanation is below:

Hooks - Actions and Filters are examples of WordPress Hooks, they let you add your own code into WordPress core functionality.

Filters - Return values and allow you to modify them.

Actions - Cause events to take place as the code is processed.
