Can't get task 3

I'm stuck in this step. I can't figure out how to call the function and store it. Help!

Hi,

To call the function and store the returned value in a variable you just need to call:

var variableName= functionName();

so in your case it should be

var yearToday = getYear();

You can think of this function as being it's return value. If you call it all by itself, that value doesn't get saved anywhere. You want to set your new variable as being equal to the function call.

function getYear(){
  var year = new Date().getFullYear();
  return year;
};

var yearToday = getYear();
