Can't get the css file to link

I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I've followed the videos really carefully and everything works fine until I get to the end of this vid and the css should be linked in. Everything seems to be just as it is in the video, and it still won't work - I even just copied the course files into the theme directory to try & get it working and that didn't work either! But the index page is the one that's showing in wp - I've changed some text to check that it is. Anyone else have this problem?

This might sound silly but did you save both the .html and the css file?

There aren't any html files - the index is a php file and I copied all the files in the project files download (as well as first creating all of them during the tutorials)...but thanks for answering!

Oops! Ok, my bad...I hadn't updated my version of wp - such a bad habit! And when I did - it all worked fine...so I'll happily resume the tutorials and maybe one day this post might help someone else who's still got an older version of wp...!
