can't install ruby installer

so i just started ruby foundations. i download ruby 1.9.3-p551. i run the command in cmd - ruby -v. and get this error.

ruby' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. what is going on?

Hi.

The cmd: ruby -v -> returns the version of the installed package -> if it returns nothing it means it wasn't installed.

If you installed this package and get an error with this command it only means that your enviroment variable is not set.

For this check what Uncle Google has to say about it 'cos there are about 5 ways to set them.

If you need more info just ask.

thanks for answering. i actually worked it out in the end. it wasn't a problem with the tool, but the tool using it, haha.
