Caption says "HX"

Yes you are correct. It should be AJAX. If I listen very closely, it also sounds like he says "HX" so I guess that's where the caption comes from :)

While your answer is quietly comical, or at least witty, it doesn't solve the problem for those hard-of-hearing or even deaf. The 'HX' still exists and isn't the only place where captions are incorrect. In fact, there's usually at least 1 incorrect caption per video.

Surprisingly, your speech recognition software is able to interpret "dollar dot get" as "$.get", despite the pronunciation of "get" sounding like "git", yet fails with AJAX.

The video transcript is also incorrect - surely it's not that hard for a team of people teaching how to code to have a read through the transcript and correct the grammar and spelling.

For a paid service this is very poor.

Yes, i experienced this in some other cases too, especially aroud this stage of the JS track. I think someone did the subtitles after hearing, who is not familiar with the topics and/or IT, and was a bit too self confident to do this only after hearing. Altough, find+replace HX > Ajax and so one 'd heal it in most cases. I'd say, it's not neat, even if it's not that annoying.
