Challenge Task 1 of 3: Move the 1 to Position 0 in just One Step

here is my attempt: any suggestions why this does not work will be gratefully appreciated.

the_list = the_list.insert(o,the_list.pop(3))

lists.py
the_list = ["a", 2, 3, 1, False, [1, 2, 3]]

# Your code goes below here
the_list = the_list.insert(0,the_list.pop(3))

you are accomplishing the task, but you do not need to set the_list equal to anything,

simply call the function on the_list and you have effectively altered the_list to the form that the challenge requires

Thanks so very much for the clarification. As you might surmise from my question, I am new to programming and am grateful for your prompt, succinct, and lucid explanation.
