Challenge task 1/3 can't proceed; what am I missing? <a href="index.html"><nav></nav><ul></ul>

Challenge says create a navigation link and an unordered list without any list items or any links, after the link in the header.

  <header>
      <a href="index.html">
<nav>
<ul>
</ul>
</nav>
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
    </header>

does not work, and

html <header>
  <a href="index.html"></a>
    <nav></nav>
    <ul></ul>

is not working, I am not sure what else is required. IT is giving the error "make sure you put your nav element right after the link!"

Hi Mark,

Your header section would look like this:

    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul></ul>
      </nav>
    </header>

Here, I have added a nav element after the link (the a tag pairing) and included an unordered list inside that nav with no list elements in it. Your code was correct, but it wasn't after the whole link tag; you had it inside the link.

I hope that helps.

Steve.
