Challenge task 2

Complete the assignment to the userName variable by adding a # symbol followed by an all uppercase version of the lastName variable. In other words, using string concatenation so that the final value of userName is "23188XTR#SMITH".

i have the var down right but im not sure how to place the '#'. it keeps telling me to place it in-between the id.toUpperCase and lastName.toUpperCase.

You need to concatenate the two variables with a hash in the middle. Also, the parentheses should be empty, as you are simply calling the toUppercase() method on the variables. Your code should look something like this:

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + '#' + lastName.toUpperCase();

Hi Shaun,

Almost, you need to create other concantenation for # symbol outside UpperCase(), something like this below:

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
