The question is: Complete the assignment to the userName variable by adding a # symbol followed by an all uppercase version of the lastName variable. In other words, using string concatenation so that the final value of userName is "23188XTR#SMITH". I did
var id = "23188xtr"; var lastName = "Smith"; var userName = id + '#' + lastName userName.toUpperCase()
and a bunch of other ways and it will not take it. What am i doing wrong?

38,156 PointsConvert id to uppercase first by doing id.toUpperCase() Then you need to convert lastName to uppercase as well by doing lastName.toUpperCase(). You have the right idea with the hashtag string so all you need to do is put those three together and assign a new variable userName.
var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
Hope this helps!
