In JavaScript we can use a plus sign to put together two separate strings. If i were to code this:

alert("Hello " + "Jacob");

... an alert with the text "Hello Jacob" would appear. That's what we're going for here.

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();

Here we take the id and make it all upper case. And this part you did without problem in the first step! :thumbsup: Then we're going to concatenate (fancy word for smushing two strings together) with a pound sign/hash tag in the middle. Then we're going to add(concatenate) the upper cased version of the last name to that. All that gets assigned back to the variable userName. Hope that helps! :smile:

Thank you girl!!! :)
