change the color of h1 tag to purple

This may be wrong, but in your css page your code should look something like H1 { Color: purple }

on your html I believe you need to remove the color and equals in your beginning H1 tag. Hope this works!

Not sure why my CSS got messed up. Their should be new lines after the curly brace and purple

Zev is right.

Actually the color property doesn't have a capital letter and it does need semi colon or the browser won't recognise the code properly.

In the code challenge you should see the CSS tab which is where you need to put your code. Remember the H1 element selector and the property and value

h1 {
 color: purple;
}
