I do not understand the second requirement in the question below:
"Using the has_key? method, check if the hash variable has a key called "calories". If it does, set a new variable called food to true."
What is new variable? (hash, key or value)
hash = { "name" => "Bread", "quantity" => 1, "calories" => 100 }
hash.has_key?("calories")
food = "true"

Courses Plus Student 26,868 PointsHi Rober.
This challenge asks that you set food
to true ONLY IF hash has the key "calories".
so, if you combine line 2 & 3 of your code together, you'll have the correct solution.
hash = { "name" => "Bread", "quantity" => 1, "calories" => 100 }
food = "true" if hash.has_key?("calories")
hope this helps.
