I'm using win8 cmd prompt locally and after generate scaffold and FB:migrate there is always a long lag time (mins not seconds) where the cursor blinks. Is this normal? In the video it seems it's only split seconds. I also tried VM with Cmdr - same result.

36,441 PointsYes, you can use Git Bash. Also, you should never use Windows for Rails development. I suggest installing your own Linux on virtual machine like VMWare Player or, if you're courageous, dual boot. Treehouse VM doesn't really make things easier.

4,045 PointsThanks - I'll give Linux on VMWare a try first. Never is a strong word - why is that? why should you never use Windows for Rails development? What code is good on a Windows machine?

36,441 PointsRuby and Rails have lots of issues on Windows machines. You get more errors and less support online because no developer in their right mind uses Windows for Rails, so they can't help you much when you ask online. It's technically possible, but trust me, it's painful.

6,231 PointsMy group in our Software Engineering class once tried developing Ruby on Rails in Windows and It took like a week to fix an issue regarding postgreSQL. Which is very time consuming. Try using Linux use VMWare.
