Code errors

what am I doing wrong?

PS why don't you just show the solution somewhere so I can compare? It's so annoying to have to ask a question each time....

Pass the parameter to the function in the same line with the assignment: 

function returnValue(colour) {
  return colour;
}
var echo = returnValue("string here");

I agree, many times I wish they had a way to get 'hints' without having to ask each time. Cheers.

maybe you have to get rid of:

var echo = returnValue();

since it doesn't do anything.
