concatenation

I keep getting this:

Did you add the '#' character between id and lastName?

What am I missing here?

You want to set the userName to an all uppercase version of the id variable, regardless of what that id variable is. You don't want to set userName = "23188xtr"; you'd want to set userName = id.toUpperCase();

Then concatenate the '#' sign followed by concatenating an all uppercase version of the lastName variable to the end.

var id = "23188xtr";
var lastName = "Smith";

var userName = id.toUpperCase() + "#" + lastName.toUpperCase();
