Confused

Can anyone explain why this fails the code challenge?

subject = "Treehouse loves {} "
subject.format(name)

Hey there,

Just a couple things:

  1. You can't call the format() method on a variable. It can only be called on a string.

  2. Just a typing error for what the challenge is asking for. You have a space between your closing curly brace and the closing quotation mark. (Challenges can be very picky with this).

So, you just need to delete the last line of you block, delete the space and use the format() method on the string

name = "jeff"
subject = "Treehouse loves {}".format(name)
