4,305 PointsConfusing response in Python Collections> Dictionaries > Membership: Bummer! Where's `members()`?
I am using the following code in the challenge:
def members(my_dict, my_list): matched = 0 for keys in my_dict.keys(): if key in my_list: matched += 1 else: pass return matched
When checking my work, the response is "Bummer! Where's members()
?" Clearly, I define the function and arguments in the first line of my code. Why am I getting this response?
# You can check for dictionary membership using the
# "key in dict" syntax from lists.
### Example
# my_dict = {'apples': 1, 'bananas': 2, 'coconuts': 3}
# my_list = ['apples', 'coconuts', 'grapes', 'strawberries']
# members(my_dict, my_list) => 2
def members(my_dict, my_list):
matched = 0
for keys in my_dict.keys():
if key in my_list:
matched += 1
else:
pass
return matched

7,120 PointsYou're almost there. In your for loop you did:
for keys in my_dict.keys():
if key in my_list:
Just change "for keys" to "for key" and it should work.

4,305 PointsThanks, I thought that was strange, but it was what I gleaned from the Python docs. The feedback obviously didn't match the error which also sent me down a rabbit hole.
