continue a loop

can anyone help? here is the code a got, it keeps print all the strs in the list and do not stop for the strs where starts with "a"...

    for item in items:
        print(items)
        if item[0] == 'a':
            continue
    print(items)

you are telling the program to print the item prior to checking if a condition is met. The logic is wrong.

def loopy(items):
    for item in items:
        if item[0] == 'a':
            pass
        else:
            print(item)
