The directions specify "Portfolio" not "portfolio". Try initial Cap, it worked for me. Otherwise, I used identical html.

Hey William.

The beginning and end of the <a> tag should go on the outside of the <li> tag like this

        <a href="index.html"><li>portfolio</li></a>

Hope this helps and please make this a best answer.

The link tags shouldn't be on the outside but the inside. This is not valid html.

I don't know what to say bec that code passed the challenge.

Hi William,

The link names need to be capitalised 'Portfolio', not 'portfolio':

    <header>
      <a href="index.html">
        <h1>Nick Pettit</h1>
        <h2>Designer</h2>
      </a>
      <nav>
        <ul>
          <li><a href="index.html">Portfolio</a></li>
          <li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
          <li><a href="contact.html">Contact</a></li>
        </ul>
      </nav>
    </header>
