Design process of a website.

How do you guys carry out the design of a website?

What I normally do is :

  1. Study the purpose of the site, where if it's a serious website with strict content, or a casual website simply for entertainment.
  2. Create a mockup of the website in order to have a quick visualization of where contents and call-to-actions fits best with usability in mind.
  3. Create the HTML of the website with no CSS
  4. Search for fonts that suits the mood of the content of the website ( with research from step 1 ).
  5. Grab some photos that are relevant to the project I'm working on.
  6. Add images, fonts, and apply CSS to the HTML code.
  7. Find a group of people to do usability testing of the site.

Could you guys share your design process of a website? Also please tell me if I'm doing anything wrong. I would like to know about your opinions about web design process. Thanks!

I think you should add the hifi mock up in there. After doing the wireframe mock up you should make what the website finally look like in illustrator or photoshop. It will give you an overall picture before coding. This will be good practice for slicing up psd and ai files before you code and practice using photoshop or illustrator if you want to be a front end dev. Will make you more valuable to employers in my opinion.
