Do I need to use a special selector?

You do indeed need a special selector, the descendant selector to be specific. The code you have is close to correct. When using a descendant selector you specify multiple tags/classes/ids separated by a space. The last element you type will be selected but only if it is nested within the other elements specified.

So all you need to do is change the : to a space like this:

let navigationLinks = document.querySelectorAll("nav a");
