Dave,
First I want to say all the teachers have been awesome so far, but you just took number one in my book. Thank you for setting up this challenge. I wish there was more like it.
I think there should be challenge videos where treehouse staff gives us structured mock projects to complete. You could link to the appropriate videos. Then have a second video that shows how you completed the project.
Even if you don't do anything like this I will still keep my subscription. I have learned so much from this site in the month I have had it. Thanks again.

Treehouse TeacherThanks chrisstephens3 for the compliment! Interesting suggestion about having more mock projects -- I'll talk it over with the team.

15,719 PointsI love having challenges like this! This is how we truly learn how to code by having to figure out the solutions ourselves instead of just following along with videos and doing tiny challenges. I agree with everyone and say please do more of these in all courses! :D

9,344 PointsI whole heartedly agree. This was a nice project to take a short break to work on, and I would love to have more projects thrown at us in the future!

8,169 PointsAs a teacher at a university, I can say these projects are crucial to student learning- creating code in a way that is not point blank repeating the prior video is fundamental to understanding it.

15,362 PointsYes indeed, I agree with all the others in this thread. I also like that this is not set up within the Treehouse challenge webpage program. I could do the challenges in my external text editor that way for the Java Basics course and the Java Loops and Arrays course. I did not set up the local server on my machine for being able to do that with this course though. The third aspect I like about these challenges is that you do them for yourself and is not tied to any Treehouse score. Good job Dave McFarland!

21,054 PointsI agree with what the others have posted here. These type of challenges really get your mind to think like a Developer not just a student.
