I've never worked with databases before and this course is a bit over my head. If so, maybe there should be a link to it or note in the beginning.

231,269 PointsIf you want to learn SQL, you jumped in at the wrong place. Mongo is a "NoSQL" database, which is rather different from traditional SQL.
While you're here, I'd suggest both the SQL Basics course, and the Database Foundations, which cover classic SQL. The first one is a pretty gentle introduction, so hopefully it won't make you feel overwhelmed.

Actually, now that I look at it, that course is also pretty heavy on SQL. I found a great course on Lynda which does a better overview of databases for beginners.
